As a prolific writer and editor over the span of four decades, Fred Garth has contributed to media giants such as the New York Times, CNN, and National Geographic. He has launched 14 magazines in the conservation, travel and adventure sports genre. In 2010 Garth partnered with artist and world-renowned marine conservationist Guy Harvey, Phd to launch Guy Harvey Magazine dedicated to marine conservation, art and ocean education. In 2025 Garth and Harvey collaborated on The Sushi Warrior, a novel written by Garth and illustrated by Harvey. The book's fictional journey highlights the horrors of human enslavement in the multi-billion dollar illegal fishing black market. Garth is a master scuba diving instructor, former snow skiing instructor, blue-water sailing expert, avid angler and an adventure sports junkie. He's traveled to more than 80 countries to report on conservation issues.
