Maury Giles is the Chief Executive Officer of Braver Angels, the nation’s largest grassroots movement dedicated to renewing America’s civic culture. Maury leads a growing national effort to inspire and equip Americans to practice courageous citizenship—learning to contend without contempt, rebuild trust, and solve problems across differences.
Maury brings more than three decades of experience from the commercial and civic sectors, spanning journalism, market research, and experience design. As a former executive and entrepreneur, he specialized in decoding human motivation and building high-trust engagement strategies for complex organizations. Maury views the private sector as a vital laboratory for innovation and results-oriented leadership, applying those same rigorous disciplines to the work of national depolarization. His focus remains on shifting civic culture by turning deep human insights into scalable, collective action.
Before his appointment as CEO, Maury served as a dedicated volunteer and moderator for five years, notably leading bipartisan legislative initiatives through Braver Politics. His transition from the "field" to the executive office reflects his commitment to scaling the tools of bridge-building to every corner of the country.
A Republican ("Red") based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Maury is a husband and father of ten in a blended family. When he isn’t leading national movements, he can be found volunteering with CASA, serving in his church, or refereeing high school football games—an ongoing practice in maintaining fairness, discipline, and calm under pressure.
