Speaker Bio
Ed Begley Jr. is one of Hollywood’s most prominent and enduring environmental activists, known for combining a prolific entertainment career with more than five decades of public advocacy for sustainability and environmental responsibility.
Begley’s environmental activism began in the late 1960s and early 1970s, influenced by growing up amid Los Angeles smog and coming of age during the first Earth Day. Since then, he has been a consistent and vocal advocate for clean air, renewable energy, and conservation. He is known for “walking the talk” by adopting sustainable practices long before they were fashionable, including driving electric and hybrid vehicles, installing solar power at his home, and reducing personal resource consumption.
From 2007 to 2010, Begley co-hosted the reality series Living with Ed with his wife, Rachelle Carson Begley, offering a practical and often humorous look at eco-friendly living and demonstrating how individuals can reduce their environmental footprint. He has also lent his time and voice to numerous environmental organizations and causes, serving in leadership and advisory roles and speaking publicly about climate change, pollution, and sustainable living.
Through both his career and his activism, Ed Begley Jr. has become a leading example of how personal commitment and public influence can intersect to promote environmental stewardship.
