Speaker Bio
Kevin's ancestors left Scotland for greener pastures in Ireland in the 1600’s. They later came to America in the earlier 1700’s with Kevin’s great, great,…..great grandfather, John Kennedy, being born in Georgia in 1740. Kevin has four documented grandfathers who fought in the Revolutionary War.
In the 1860’s, his ancestors eventually made their way to Texas, settling in Coleman County. Much of Kevin’s extended family remains there. Kevin grew up on the Burnet/Williamson County line, where his folks had a small farming and ranching operation, running a couple hundred mama cows and “farming” about 1,000 acres.
He graduated Texas A&M in 1986 with a civil engineering degree. Kevin worked in highway planning and design and in 1998 started his own consulting firm. His company primarily served TxDOT on major highway projects statewide, but also served tollway authorities, counties and cities. Kevin sold his firm and has been generally retired from the consulting world for about five years.
Kevin and his wife of thirty-seven years, Lisa, live near Mahomet, Texas, in eastern Burnet County. For the last twenty-five years they have made their home on the “Nutt place”, which Kevin’s folks bought in 1963, just before he was born. Their two adult children and their better halves visit frequently; no grandkids yet but here’s hoping. Kevin and Lisa spend much of time their looking after a very successful chigger and grassbur enterprise.
